Associate Professor Robert Gerber
Consultant Cardiologist & Co-Director, Nepean Cardiovascular Centre
Associate Professor Robert (Bob) Gerber is an experienced Consultant Cardiologist and Interventional Cardiologist, and Co-director of Nepean Cardiovascular Centre. He trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School (King’s College London) and completed advanced subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology at Imperial College London and San Raffaele Hospital in Milan under Dr Antonio Colombo.
Bob is recognised internationally for his expertise in intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided stent implantation and has published extensively, with more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, contributing to medical education and ongoing research.
Across a 25-year career in the UK, New Zealand and Australia, Bob has performed more than 5,000 cardiac procedures with excellent audited outcomes through VCOR and NICOR. His clinical expertise includes coronary intervention, hypertension, heart failure, heart rhythm disorders, dyslipidaemia and renal denervation for treatment-resistant hypertension. He also
performs complex PCI, including Rotablation and CTO procedures, and is accredited in device implantation.
Bob joined Nepean Hospital as a Senior Staff Specialist in 2022 and is part of the 24/7 heart attack service. He is a member of the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (EAPCI) and is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
Outside of work, Bob enjoys cycling, trail running, bushwalking and spending time with his family.
